James Keeley, PPC for Skipton and Ripon recently had a meeting at and a tour of Ripon Hospital. Councillor Bernard Bateman accompanied him.

Mr. Keeley said:

"I have been conducting a Save the NHS Survey in the area and have had a superb response. On the back of this campaign I decided to go along to Ripon hospital to learn at first hand what services are being provided for the local community."

"I was met at the door of the hospital by a line of smiling faces from various people who work at the hospital. The Matron, Mrs. Taylor introduced me to a lot of her team. I listened to and spoke with a whole range of these wonderful people from hard working nurses to those providing the essential administrative services that are vital for the smooth running of the hospital.

"I was deeply impressed to hear about the incredible money raising efforts of the League of Friends. I was interested to hear about the commitment the Hospital has to helping patients back to their homes as soon as possible through the fast Response Team. In my view it is a very efficient use of resources to have a dedicated member of staff from North Yorkshire Social Services to achieve this goal and ultimately save the tax payer money."

"We are very fortunate to have a family of professionals dedicated to give us the best care that they possibly can at our local hospital. Long may that continue and I hope the hospital goes from strength to strength."

Both the hospital staff and patients alike can be assured that they have the full support of me and my Liberal Dem colleagues.

We wish to send a message to the staff

"We think that you are marvellous! We salute you!"
