LIB DEMS SPEAK UP FOR FARMERS

12.00.00am GMT Sun 2nd Dec 2007

James Keeley, Lib Dem PPC for Skipton and Ripon recently visited Richard Ellison, Regional Director of the National Farmers Union in York

Mr. Keeley said:

"In my view this Government have treated Farmers disgracefully. They have had to bear the brunt of the single farm payment fiasco. Added to this they have had to endure outbreaks of Foot and Mouth and Blue Tongue.

I thought it was vital to see Mr. Ellison at the National Farmers Union to find out how farmers were coping in the current climate. Our farmers are the back bone of our country. They have my total respect and support. Ant any and every opportunity I am going to stand up and fight for them."
